At London Fashion Week, the designers made all 5 days pop with fun, colour plays, startling silhouettes and statement styles that screamed ‘impossible’! They kept everyone on their toes throughout the event with designs, each better than the previous.
Before we talk about the trends that they set in motion for the world to follow, let’s make an honourable mention of the highlight of the show – Her Majesty The Queen making an appearance! The show reached its ultimate high when Her Royal Majesty dropped by to watch Richard Quinn’s show and presented him with the inaugural Queen ElizabethⅡAward for British Design.
RICHARD QUINN: “TALK OF THE TOWN”
Her Royal Highness had good reasons to choose Richard Quinn. The accomplished designer is well known for his creativity & avant-garde designs. His ramp-lit work was covered in floral patterns, powerful silhouettes and printed head-masks that made high notes on his collection.
Bold and powerful, this line was a vision of fearlessness and forward thinking. Using innovative fabrics and his unique ability to combine hand-fashioning skills with a polished high fashion sensibility, scored him more beyond the necessary brownies.
Now that’s what it takes to receive the award from the Queen herself!
DESIGNERS WHO WERE #LIT!
We’d say nearly all the designers surpassed expectations with some out-of-the-world designs. Few collections gave us a “larger than life” feel than the rest, though.
Here are the top 5 that caught our eye, and unleased pure creativity on the ramps –
OUTRAGEOUS STREET STYLES!
As models set ramps on fire, the real celebrities were found brightening the front-row spots, dressed in killer styles top-to-bottom. We are talking about the ‘Very Important Peeps’ – critics, bloggers, and other influencers – who made grand appearances at the show by making, breaking and ruling trends.
Here are a few trends that looked absolutely sensational –
Layers and longline outfits took over the streets in all forms of prints, patterns and textures! Highlight? This time around, we spotted sneakers paired with oversized suits for a comfy and sporty spin.
Did we mention dropped torso silhouettes? Those were unexpected and unexpectedly cool! Aren’t they just perfect right before summers! A wardrobe staple as well as a fashion favourite.
Whatever it is, find an oversize! The ruffled bulk was spotted everywhere, worn in most interesting ways!
Salt for taste, pepper for seasoning, accessories to tie it all up together! We spotted a whole new set of innovative accessories out there – the funkier, the better.
That was a quick round up of LFW. Enough inspirations to inspire, we hope? And enough ideas to load up that shopping cart when you step out next!
Prepare to walk layered on the streets this season, coz that was one trend we spotted both on and off the ramp!
