Style inspirations for NYE
As 2016 draws to a close we’re in a flurry to figure out how to leap out of the year in style. Lucky for us the Critics’ Choice Awards recently happened, giving us just the right push in the inspiration direction. Here’s the low-down on some stunning NYE looks that you just can’t go wrong with.
The all-black squad
Black is a colour that can never fail you! Besides being a timeless hue, this one is incredibly slimming, aren’t we right ladies? We’re thinking a sleek black maxi with a cut-out waist that shows just the right amount of skin. Team it with peep-toe pumps and style your hair in a low, loose bun for some red carpet glamour. Classic red lipstick and kohl-lined eyes add the final touches. If you’re celebrating by attending a cocktail party, we’d suggest a sexy high-slit black maxi paired with killer heels. Pull back your hair in a French twist and add some red lipstick and winged eyeliner for the perfect finish.
The trouser club
If dresses are not your cup of tea, there’s always the classy pant suit. This silhouette took the trend charts by storm in 2016 and was a hot favourite both on the runways and the red carpets. Go for a tailored ensemble in a dark hue like black, charcoal grey or midnight blue paired with high-heeled pumps. You could even try a slightly more feminine version with a long line top complete with a high-slit paired with cropped trousers. Wear a lace camisole under your blazer for a feminine touch. As for hair and make-up we’d suggest straightened hair that’s left loose and smoky eyes.
The girly-girl gang
Another way to tackle NYE is to take the all-feminine route. Go for a flirty tulle fit and flare dress that’s perfect for a night of club hopping or even a house party. You could even try a skater skirt paired with a fitted blouse if you don’t want to wear a dress. Remember ladies, the skater silhouette will cinch your waist and the gentle flare adds a nice girly touch. Team it with statement laser-cut heels and don’t forget to accessorise with your favourite baubles. Loose curls, pink lips and a touch of mascara will complete the look.
The vintage-glam clique
There’s a reason that everyone is so obsessed with old-world vintage glamour. Trust us when we say, it can never go out of style. This time however, we’re suggesting a goth-vintage look to help you make a statement with your outfit while ringing in the new year. Try an all-lace maxi dress in colour like white, black or red. Pull your hair back in a fishtail braid, smoky eye make-up and some rich oxblood lipstick for that goth touch. Strappy heels will complete the look to perfection!
Here’s hoping that you all usher in the new year with plenty of style. Watch this space for more updates, soon!
