BRINGING OUR FAVOURITE YESTERYEAR BEAUTIES BACK TO LIFE FOR A QUICK LESSON ON STYLE!

Few names are hard to forget even years after they have left the centre stage. Think Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe. Even designers turn to them time and again for inspiration. Let’s explore that thought further. Instead of taking the usual route of looking at trends for workwear inspiration, we thought of doing something a bit different. Imagine these beauties as working women in 2017 and try to picture how they would dress. Having a hard time doing that? Read on as we decode it for you.

Audrey Hepburn

Ms. Hepburn was surely someone whose style was unforgettable, and you will see why. Classy, feminine and a tomboy? And you thought those words would never go together in a sentence. But let’s face it, Audrey managed to pull it off so easily. We envy her coolness. How does she look so feminine in an oversized button-down shirt?

Take a page or two from her book while dressing for work. The answer is to take the easy-breezy route. Comfort defined her style with her choices of simple silhouettes and flat footwear. Here’s a look we feel she would have loved to sport in 2017, if she was around – a simple striped tee, a pair of slim-fit jeans, a blazer and of course chic ballet flats!

Grace Kelly

This beauty from the ’50s could probably walk in right now with whatever she wore 60 years back and still steal the spotlight. What defined her style was originality. She knew what worked for her and held on to it, even if it meant wearing her favourite pieces multiple times. Princess of Monaco, we are proud of you for some early lessons on sustainable fashion.

Grace Kelly

Perfectly tailored, minimal yet elegant clothes never go out of style. Take a cue from this style icon if your style at work leans towards classic feminine pieces. We’re positive she would be seen gracing the halls in a perfectly tailored dress like this one with a functional handbag and high-heeled pumps.

Elizabeth Taylor

Lights, bling and action! Extravagance was only ordinary for Taylor with her fur coats, shimmer dresses and one-of-a-kind expensive jewellery. Bold and beautiful gets a whole new meaning with her daring personality that literally shined through her clothing.

Don’t expect this one to follow any dress codes. Screw the rules! Who cares about the occasion? She could easily pull off a shimmery party dress to work if she wanted to. Who are we to question the great Taylor? If you are one of those style devils like her, then you’re sure to love this look.

Something says, if she had made an appearance today, she would have chosen a little black sparkly dress like this one with a chic handbag and pumps, and of course don’t forget the baubles.

Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn made quite an impression in her short life and was seen as an impulsive, fun-loving person, who didn’t like to play by the rules. Sexy dresses that smartly defined her figure with peep-toe pumps and an attitude that was hard-to-miss – she could steal the show in a heart-beat.

If you’re an easy-going girl who likes to bend the rules of style at work, try her look. We believe she would have stepped out in a sexy halter dress, a mustard handbag and high heels if she had the chance to! Oh, and don’t forget a million dollar smile like Ms.Monroe!
